UN-Habitat Executive Director is pleased to introduce Kazumi Ogawa as the new Chief of the Office of the Executive Director.

"I am pleased to introduce Kazumi Ogawa as the new Chief of the Office of the Executive Director.

Kazumi Ogawa has served in the United Nations for over 20 years, with experience in public information, administration, human rights and peacekeeping. Having entered through the National Competitive Recruitment Examination, she has worked in the Department of Public Information, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, including postings in the former Yugoslavia, Eritrea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Central African Republic.  She was most recently the Deputy Director of Political Affairs in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), and before that, was in charge of the UN Operations and Crisis Centre in New York.

A Japanese national, Kazumi was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii (USA).  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and Public Relations from Boston University, and was a Scholar at the East-West Center, through which she was granted a Master of Arts in East Asian Studies from the University of Hawaii.  She is the proud mother of a nine-year old.

I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to Andrew Cox for his service as Chief of OED.

Please extend your fullest cooperation to Kazumi as she takes up her position. "

Best regards
