The position is located in the External Relations Division (ERD), Office of Executive Director and Management. The External Relations Division promotes strategic alliances to support achievement of the goals of adequate shelter for all, and sustainable urbanization and human settlements development. ERD assists to advance UN-Habitat image and relationships with its partners and the public at large, and to build and strengthen partnerships, facilitate policy impact and developmental change, and increase delivery of programmes.

The evaluation function in UN-Habitat contributes towards improvement of programme deliver, and informs decision-making, supports, accountability and improves learning and knowledge in UN-Habitat and of its partners.

Under the overall supervision of the EU Reinteg Programme Manager, the direct supervision of the EU Reinteg Coordinator, and in close cooperation and coordination with other EU Reinteg implementing agencies and partners, the programme support expert  will be responsible for the following tasks:

To implement the programme’s activities, a consultant is required to provide technical support to the Research and Capacity Development Branch, taking part in the work of Future Saudi Cities programme and its field of activities, under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Global Urban Observatory Unit. 

UN-HABITAT’s Tehran Office was established in 2009 to strengthen cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and UN-Habitat, to contribute towards capacity building in the themes of sustainable urban development through policy development, institutional implementation and improvement of required skills and to promote UN-Habitat mandated activities in Iran, particularly in the field of earthquake resistance construction

Sport has historically played an important role in all societies, be it in the form of competitive sport, physical activity or play. Sport and play are human rights that must be respected and enforced worldwide. Sport has been increasingly recognized and used as a low-cost and high-impact tool in humanitarian, development and peace-building efforts, not only by the UN system but also by non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governments, development agencies, sports federations, armed forces as well as the media.

Since Habitat II, UN-Habitat has been committed to promoting the participation of young people as partners in implementing the Habitat Agenda and the achievement of the MDGs. At the 20th Governing Council in 2005, the Strategy for Enhanced Engagement with Youth was adopted and has provided a framework for designing and implementing a Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) through subsequent years. Through the support from the Government of Norway and the institutional commitment of UN-HABITAT, a number of member states have expressed interest and continued support for the youth program.
