  • HabPost Issue 56 - September 01st, 2022

    Urban October is just around the corner. In this issue, we highlight what the month is all about and a brief on the World Habitat Day and World Cities Day celebrations in the feature story.

    On operational matters, we’ve successfully managed to restore services and ensure recovery in a refugee camp in Syria. This is after conflict broke out in the country, displacing over 10,000 Palestinians from the Dera’a refugee camp. Find out more about the different activities in place facilitating the return of over 3000 refugees in the success story section.

    Lastly, it is time to take the Mandatory Leadership Dialogue Session for the year 2022.. As you may know, all managers are expected to complete their sessions with their direct reports, cascading down to all staff members, interns, and consultants, by 31 November 2022. More on how to participate in the Did You Know section of this issue.

  • HabPost Issue 55 - July 07th, 2022

    It is now one week since WUF 11 concluded last Thursday, and we wanted to share the key highlights from the 5-day event.

    The event attracted 17,003 attendees, with 10,799 participants from 155 countries attending in person. WUF11 events were covered live by UN Web TV, receiving 46,145 views, with 350 media representatives registered and 200 attending in person.

    Participants held discussions culminating in a set of Declared Actions which you can read more about in the feature story section.

    Further on in this issue, we present one of our flagship reports, the World Cities Report 2022.

    Keeping in mind the valuable lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Report suggests ways that cities can be better prepared to address a wide range of shocks and transition to sustainable urban futures. It identifies three possible scenarios of urban futures: high damage, pessimistic and optimistic.

  • HabPost Issue 54 – June 23rd, 2022

    Its an exciting week as the Eleventh Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF) kicks-off this Sunday, 26 June 2022.

    So far, we have over 18,000 registered participants from 166 countries. The WUF program includes six categories of partner-driven events: SDGs in Action, ONE UN, Voices from Cities, Networking, Training, Urban Library.

    With a wide-variety of sessions planned for the week, don’t miss the launch of our global flagship report – the World Cities Report 2022. This will take place on Wednesday, 29 June 2022. Find out more in the Feature Story of this issue.

    In other news, more than 200 children successfully co- designed the Central Park of Madrid Nuevo Norte using digital gaming.

    Through the use of the Block by Block tool, a UN-Habitat methodology that uses digital gaming, students had the opportunity to re-imagine how a 13-hectar green space could become the next iconic Central Park of Madrid.

  • HabPost Issue 52 - May 26th, 2022

    In today’s issue of the HabPost, we review the takeaways from the High-level meeting on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, held on 28 April 2022 in New York. We explore the key areas of action, the primary resources that informed the discussion and other bilateral activities.

    It is said that all good things must come to an end.

    The global three-year multi partner Future Cities Programme has come to an end while its South
    East Asia component is transitioning to the next stage. Find out its final knowledge products in the success story of this issue.
