I work in the Urban Economy and Finance Branch (UEFB) of UN-Habitat as a German JPO. I work primarily on topics of Municipal and Urban Finance, supporting local governments in enhancing their endogenous revenue sources.
Prior to joining the UEFB I worked as an Associate Expert for finance issues within the Housing and Slum Upgrading Branch of UN-Habitat in Nairobi. In this capacity I developed a rental subsidy pilot for internally displaced persons in Mogadishu and consulted the Ministry of Housing of Bahrain on the financial viability of their social housing programmes. Previously, I worked for three years as a Management Consultant in the financial sector in Switzerland. In this role I worked on various projects in the realm of financial strategy and operational efficiency. I helped restructure the corporate finance strategy of a prominent European stock exchange and advised a prominent retail bank on ways to improve its real estate investment portfolio. This experience led me to develop numerous transferable financial skills which I then sought to apply in a development context.
I also worked on financial system development for GIZ in Mozambique and evaluated investments into Sub Saharan Africa at Frontier Advisory Deloitte.
