Report of the Secretary-General to the General Assembly (A/66/282)

In its resolution 64/207 of 21 December 2009, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General, in collaboration with the Governing Council of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), to prepare a report on the question of convening in 2016 a third United Nations conference on housing and sustainable urban development (Habitat III). Having taken note of the report of the Executive Director of UN-Habitat on convening a third United Nations conference on housing and sustainable urban development, the Governing Council, at its twentythird session, invited the Assembly to deliberate further at its sixty-sixth session on the question of convening Habitat III in 2016.
