Notice of Recall of Non-Electronic UN Laissez-Passer
Notice of Recall of Non-Electronic UN Laissez-Passer
The United Nations implemented a new electronic United Nations Laissez-Passer (e-UNLP) in 2012. The e-UNLP has many enhanced security features in line with International Civil Aviation Organization requirements. UNON has been transitioning all clients to the e-UNLP with all new applications, as renewals are no longer possible.
While travel on a former generation UNLP has been allowed as long as the document was not expired, as per the below notification, this will no longer be the case from 1 January 2016.
To avoid any inconvenience and to preempt issuance delays, Travel Unit urges all UNON administered clients in possession of a valid LP to check that it is an e-UNLP. If it is not and official travel is possible during the remainder of 2015, you are encouraged to apply for a new document, as per normal application requirements.
In addition, we take the opportunity to remind clients that any expired UNLP in their possession should still be submitted for cancellation. Cancelled UNLP are normally returned to clients after processing.
