Introduction of Ms Nao Takeuchi, Urban Basic Services Branch

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to introduce Ms Nao Takeuchi, Junior Professional Officer in the Urban Basic Services Branch. Nao is a Japanese national. She holds an MSc in Sustainable Urbanism from the University College London.

Prior to joining UN-Habitat, Nao worked for EX Research Institute, a consultancy firm and think-tank specializing in urban planning and environmental solutions. Her responsibilities included conducting feasibility studies, pilot projects and capacity development for human resources in the field of waste and waste-water management. She has led a number of projects in South-East Asia, working closely with Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, among others. She has also worked as an environmental public policy research analyst for the Mitsubishi Research Institute.

Her areas of expertise include municipal solid waste management, waste water treatment, green space conservation and park and landscape design, public participation and GIS and land use change. Her main task will be to formulate and implement urban waste management projects.
