Katharina Grüneisl has joined the City Planning, Extension and Design Unit for three months as seconded staff through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Dear colleagues,
Katharina Grüneisl has joined the City Planning, Extension and Design Unit for three months as seconded staff through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Katharina is originally from Munich, Germany and has studied human geography and urban studies in France, Lebanon and the UK. Before coming to Nairobi, she  was working with the German Agency for International Development Cooperation (GIZ) on an informal settlement upgrading project in Cairo, Egypt.

In the next three months, she will be working with the public space programme of UN Habitat. During her secondment, she will mainly work on the conceptualisation of a joint regional project on public space in the MENA region and will contribute to current activities relating to public space in informal settlements, as well as market places and streets as public spaces.

She can be reached on email as Katharina Grueneisl/UNHABITAT/NBO/UNO@UNON or in person in Block 3-N 2nd floor.

I believe as part of her work she will have a chance to meet and work with many of you in person and virtually. Kindly extend to her your usual collaboration.

With best regards,

Laura Petrella
