Dr. Joan Clos: Updates on communications and social media

02 Feb 2016

I have decided to upgrade our approach to external communications, so I have begun personally 'tweeting' my activities, agenda, and thoughts on a range of issues related to UN-Habitat's work and to urbanization in general

Dear colleagues,

I have decided to upgrade our approach to external communications, so I have begun personally 'tweeting' my activities, agenda, and thoughts on a range of issues related to UN-Habitat's work and to urbanization in general. We will shortly be establishing a dedicated UN-Habitat internal Staff Facebook page, so that you can easily access these Tweets, and so that I can send you direct internal communications which you will be able to receive on your smart devices. It's important that communication about the agency as a whole is shared between all staff, so that we are all aware of UN-Habitat's goals, issues, vision, and direction, and that this 'sharing' is as flexible as possible. This is particularly important in the preparations for Habitat III, which requires an expansion of our communications activities.

As a part of this effort, I'm attaching my latest two op-eds, one on Africa's urbanization, by the Daily Nation, and the other one on China's bet on urbanization, published yesterday in China Radio International.

I have become much more active in recent months in producing op-eds and all my speeches are now online, and these can now all be located on the UN-Habitat homepage in the following two links:
